Thinking More = Eating Less
Research finds that the more of a food item you actually imagine eating, the less you will actually eat it. Group 1 imagined eating 33 M&Ms. Group 2 imagined putting 33 quarters into a clothes dryer. Then they gave each group a bowl of M&Ms. Not surprisingly, Group 1 ate fewer M&Ms.

Eat Less, Remember More
Research shows that low-calorie diets improved memory in elderly women.
In the study, 50 elderly women cut calorie consumption by 1/3rd. After three months, dieters were not only slimmer, but improved their memory. With better insulin levels and fewer markers of inflammation, the study suggests that keeping these factors under control may help keep the brain fit.

Write to Lose Weight
Research finds that people who write down everything they eat each day lose twice as much as those who don’t.
~1,700 participants were asked to follow a heart-healthy diet, attended weekly group sessions and did moderate exercise for 1/2 hour daily. After 6 months, ~2/3rd had lost at least 9lbs. Moreover, those who wrote down what they ate lost twice as much as others.

Diet May Affect Gender
Researchers studied 750 first-time pregnant women. Those who ate more calories and a wider range of nutrients, 56% had boys vs. 45% of lowest caloric intake. The highest calorie group was also the most likely to eat breakfast.

"Low Fat" Not So Healthy
Research shows that we eat more food if it's labeled "low fat". One study revealed that subjects took 1/3rd more from a candy dish labeled "low fat" than otherwise.
Researchers think people don't realize that "lower fat" doesn't mean "lower calories."
